Several rulings and appeals have been made since, but now the Swedish appellate courts have ruled that the domains must be forfeited. The organization refused to take down the sites and the case went to court in 2015. This whole case started back in 2013 when an anti-piracy prosecutor filed a motion targeting Sweden’s top-level internet domain organization, rather than The Pirate Bay itself. Pirate Bay co-founder Fredrik Neij is accused of owning the domains but tells Torrent Freak that he’ll appeal the claim to the Supreme Court, asserting he doesn’t own the domains and is no longer involved with the site. The Swedish Court of Appeal has ordered the owner of the two main Pirate Bay torrent site domains - and - to forfeit the addresses over to the Swedish state, marking another loss for one of the largest media torrent sites in the world.
